WIVELSFIELD COUNTRYSIDE LOOP

A walk that may appear slightly random at first ( i originally did it during a night time wide game) from Wivelsfield. It passes through the countryside and quiet lanes along to the eight bells pub, then back towards wivelsfield via forests and fields.

BROADSTONE WARREN TO LINDFIELD

A lovely route starting from Broadstone Warren campsite and heading south towards Lindfield. ( Do note that you can't walk the section through Broadstone Warren unless you've contacted them , this is NOT a public footpath, however Ashdown Forest visitor centre serves as an excellent location , just 50m east across Coleman's Hath Road). It passes trough the grounds of Ashdown Park hotel, which is a lovely historic estate, we then walk through the open wilderness of Ashdown foest towards Chelwood gate. At Chelwood gate we wander through some ( very quiet) roads towards Danehill, and through the churchyard. Finally, we follow the Sussex Diamond way, past heaven farm ( more than worth the detour) through a quarry and a lake and a beautiful brook to finish in Eastern Road, Lindfield.

ARDINGLY TO BROADSTONE WARREN

A strenous but strong walk through the high weald. It starts fairly gently along Ardingly Reservoir , with phenomenal views across the reservoir, which is filled with wildlife. Then we follow some sharp up and downs , through Wakehurst place and Ardingly Recreation ground. Then down Cobs Lane ( The steepest road in Sussex!) before climbing towards Highbrook, where you might spot plenty of deer. It then heads north into Ashdown Forest. After an arc across the top of Ashdown forest, we drop down into Broadstone Warren. ( Do note that the last section through Broadstone Warren can only be done if you've already contacted to ask, but the Ashdown forest visitor centre is just 50m east Coleman's Hatch road).

HORSTED KEYNES TO SCAYNES HILL

A meander, largely along the Sussex border path from Horsted Keynes , through past the brooks and streams of Danehill. It passes near to the wonderful Heaven Farm ( well worth a detour) and crosses the Bluebell railway to finish in Costell's wood and Scaynes hill.

WELCOME!

Welcome to Sussex Scout Hikes, thanks for visiting! You can hear our story on the about us page, but we're really excited about finally launching Sussex Scout Hikes. Whether you're a scout leader looking for hikes, a family finding somewhere to walk or anybody else you're very welcome here. We only have ~ 25 hikes across Sussex so far, but I have more than a hundred planned in OS Maps, its just a case of inserting them into this website. It means a lot that you're willing to help and support us at this early stage, and we hope the website proves useful for you. Whether you want a long hike along the South Downs, or a short stroll in a forest , there are routes here to support you! If you ever have any questions for us, or want more routes in an area there aren't many, never hesitate to ask. Thanks again! Yours in Scouting, Isaac.
